Beast Wars, Hasbro Interactive, It's a
fully-polygonal 3D shooter,
with environments straight outta' the show. Dark, smooth
textures,
decent lighting effects, and a good frame rate help to make
Beast Wars an impressive looking shooter. Unfortunately the
robots look a little
lame at this point, with their twig-like legs and strange
animations. The transforming
sequences are respectable, and the control over the robots'
animal and walking forms
is pretty solid thanks to good strafing. My only complaint? The
game needs more
gutts...more impact! There's a cool flying level, through
super-smooth cloud layers,
leading into a vaguely Panzer Dragoon-esque boss sequence that
legitimately thrills,
but everything else is a little stale.
